Gardening

Our beautiful and well maintained gardens are a delightful retreat.

We have raised flower beds and adaptive tools especially for those residents who enjoy a spot of gardening. This allows individuals to pursue a life-long leisure preference.

By having raised flower and vegetable beds it allows residents to get their hands into the dirt while seated, either in a wheelchair or a regular chair. The therapeutic benefits of gardening have been well-documented, and it is widely recognised that gardening can improve an individual's sense of well-being. In addition it provides upper body exercise, and stimulation to the senses.

Here at Woodland Grove we understand the importance of access to the outdoors as it provides the opportunity for exercise and fresh air. Being outside can relieve tension and anxiety and stimulates the production of vitamin D, helping to maintain healthy muscles and bones The gardens can also offer personal space for reflection and privacy.

Our gardens offer sensory stimulation in the form of different colours, textures and natural smells to enhance the outdoor experience through smells and touch. The woodland around provides a haven for birds and the sound of their calling is never far away. The gardens are secure with easy access and pathways you can follow safely.
