Skills kitchen

Woodland Grove has its own life skills kitchen where residents can be involved as little or as much as they like. The kitchen encourages independence and an opportunity to maintain skills or even learn new ones. By having the freedom to use their abilities it strengthens feelings of identity and gives confidence and self-worth. It may be cooking a whole meal or baking a cake. Perhaps icing buns for their own visitors or even laying the table and having a cup of tea they have made with a friend.

It may be that this is something they do with a fellow resident or alone and some may need the assistance of care staff or one of the activity coordinators but the kitchen can be a source of fun and a link to memories of the rich tapestry of the lives of our residents.
